Preppy Edgy meets Western Boho
Photography by TimeWave Productions
You guys! I could not for the life of me think of an appropriate title for this post, because I feel like this look has so many DIFFERENT styles mixed into it. Hence the name?! However, they all seem to work together as one outfit. Finally, I came up with this name and just went with it. Sometimes you just got to move forward, amiright?! Hahaha! Preppy. Edgy. Western. Boho. All in one outfit. Let's chat!
Personal style is so great. Can we all just embrace everyones OWN style? Heck...I do not even know what my own style is. I mean, but is it something that even needs to be figured out??? I'm beginning to think no. Personal style can literally be whatever you feel like wearing at that moment, and what makes you feel confident right then and there. To me, that's what personal style is. It's an expression of self.
Bottom line....I wasn't going for a certain "look" here. And don't ever think that you have to fit a certain look. Like I always say...you do you. What speaks to your soul? Do that. Don't try to be somebody else or do what everyone else is doing. What do YOU like? How can you express yourself with YOUR personal style? With this outfit, I can see four different looks. I see...Preppy, Edgy, Western and Boho. It's not one look, but rather a mix. And that's okay. Because you know what? It's PERSONAL style.
Sorry, didn't really mean to go off on that tangent, just wanting y'all to know my true feelings, because I'm pretty passionate about personal style. As long as you're happy and confident in what you're wearing, then hey...I'm happy for you!
This raw edge denim skirt is from Forever 21 and comes in four different washes. I am wearing the dark denim. FYI, it runs LARGE. Size down AT LEAST one size, if not two. I'm wearing a 27 (I'm usually between 27-28) and the 27 I'm wearing is still pretty big. Could have even gone down to a 26, which is almost always too small for me. I'm actually glad it does fit a bit oversized, otherwise I'd be concerned with the slit being too high and lately I'm loving a little bit of an oversized fit in denim. I love the raw edge and the slit in this skirt. Forever 21 has ALOT of really cute denim skirts at such an affordable price right now. Y'all should really check it out here if you haven't in a while.
The embroidered cold-shoulder blouse I got from Kohl's. The exact shirt is available (in plus size only) here. I could not find it in any other sizes. HOWEVER, I linked a ton of really cute cold-shoulder blouses in the same light blue color at the end of this post for you guys! Some have embroidery and some do not. There are ones linked for every price point, so lots of options! These shirts would also look super cute with denim jeans this fall or white jeans as well. Speaking of white jeans...I'm on the hunt for a good pair, so if anyone knows of any good ones let me know please :)
The cognac booties are from Chinese laundry and a couple years old, but I LOVE them! These give the look that "Western feel." They are no longer available online, so I linked a bunch of other really similar cognac block heel mules that are all affordable at the end of the post! I'm such a sucker for cognac shoes and bags. Is anyone else?!?! It's like I'm just drawn to them. I can't explain it. Sort of like chocolate, ha! Cognac is such a classic and timeless color that will never go out of style, so you really can't go wrong with it. So, speaking of cognac....
The bag. The faux-leather cognac bag is from Old Navy and I got it on the clearance rack for less than $10! I've told y'all to shop clearance racks FIRST, right?! :) Right. The bag comes in four different colors. Black is also always a really great option as well, but I had to go with my trusty cognac. This bag is big enough to hold all my junk and has a few side pockets for my phone and lip gloss :) Ya know, basic necessities...
The braid in my hair is actually a hair piece from here (not my real hair, but doesn't it match like perfectly?!??!?!) and the bracelets I'm wearing are from Mod & Jo. It's a jewelry company based out of Dallas, and you can use the code HEYJODE15 for 15% off your entire purchase site wide and they always offer free shipping. They have some really amazing and unique pieces. I'm loving all their jewelry so much lately!
That's it for today guys. Be sure to take a look at what I've linked for you below! Also, blog post suggestions??? Anyone??? I'd love your suggestions! Y'all have a great rest of the week, and I'll see you over here next Wednesday! God Bless.
