End of Summer Look: Pink Velvet Bodysuit
Photography: Arzu Vargas Photography
My style lately has been pretty casual, but still put together. Remember my post awhile back about my black ruffled bodysuit? Well...this pink velvet bodysuit with ruffles from Forever 21 just screams feminine + fun! I paired it with some acid wash high-waisted pair of cutoffs from Pac Sun and neutral wedges. This was one of my favorite looks to shoot so far, as we are nearing the end of summer here in Houston. This outfit just feels so much like ME! ;) I'm so excited to share it with you guys!
First, I can't go on without talking about Hurricane Harvey first that has left behind lives, destroyed homes, and done major damage to the city of Houston and Southeast Texas. It hit Friday night as a Category 4 hurricane. It was the first hurricane I had ever been through and I was terrified. We have been hunkered down since Friday, and are thankfully dry at our house, but many people have had to evacuate their homes. The rain kept coming and the water level just kept rising. I'm sure y'all have seen pictures on the news. It's been awful.
I feel extremely thankful that we were safe, but my heart hurts for those who lost everything, and it especially hurts for those family members who lost loved ones. I plan to do a separate post on Hurricane Harvey and my raw feelings about it. So....more to come on that later. Still praying for everyone affected. I have on my Facebook page how you can help support buy purchasing from stores who profits are going to help with relief of Hurricane Harvey.
Well, let's talk about this pretty little number. I'm talking about the pink bodysuit. I got it last year at Forever 21 and instantly fell in love, but you know what? I have only worn it a couple of times. Two to be exact. And now I'm wondering why I haven't worn it more?!?! I wanted to create a beachy, laid-back summer look for you guys, and I feel like I accomplished that here. The pink color is so bright and fun, the cutoffs scream effortless, and the wedges are the most comfortable shoes I have tried on (not joking), plus I love the blush/nude color. They also come in a black color if that's your thing.
You will mostly see me wearing casual clothes. Why? (Besides the fact that I love to dress comfortable.) I'm a nurse, so i don't have to buy outfits for work, just scrubs! So I literally do not have to buy "work clothes" at all. I'll be honest, some days I want to dress up for work, and other days I looove that I get to wear scrubs. If ya'll are interested in me every doing a post featuring workwear for those of you who DO have to dress up for work, let me know. I'd be happy to consider it!
The ruffled pink bodysuit is velvet. Enough said, right? It has such good texture, and I'm a sucker for anything with texture! You can literally see the velvet shining. It's super comfy and soft as well. Plus, can we talk about how dramatic the ruffle is?! The sleeves have so much movement to them. I'm obsessed. By the way, if you haven't tried a bodysuit by now, you need to...they are surprisingly SO comfy!
The cutoff denim shorts are from Pac Sun. Y'all they have a reeeeally good selection of denim shorts by the way! For really decent prices. I posted these to Insta Stories when I received them in the mail, and they sold out a short time later. They were only $20 + free shipping. I love the acid wash. It kind of gives off that 80's vibe!
These blush wedges I got in-store from the clearance section at DSW (always a great place to find a good deal.) I can't tell you how many shoes I bought on clearance from them. I found the exact pair on sale online for only $35! And they are literally the comfiest shoes I've ever slipped my feet into. No joke. I even made my photographer try them on for her to try as well, lol!

Y'all have a great rest of the week and continue your thoughts, prayers, and good vibes to Houston. The flooding seems so surreal. The photos and videos I'm seeing of Houston literally seem like out of a movie. I can't believe it has happened. We will stay strong. We will rebuild. We will come together. We will unite. And we will be stronger than ever because of this. Stay safe and hug your loved ones. This hurricane really puts things into perspective. I'll be pouring my heart into a newsletter about Hurricane Harvey soon, so be sure to sign up. I don't want you to miss it.
