Mixing Feminine with Edgy
A little life update for y'all before I jump to the nitty gritty! ;) Adam and I are taking off for Jamaica TOMORROW for a little getaway! We celebrated our five year anniversary in September, and thought we should treat ourselves to a trip. Honestly this time of year worked out the best for us, so back in December, we just booked it! We don't get much time away without the kids these days, so this will be a HUGE treat for us!
My in-laws are coming to watch the kids at our house, as well as my sister-in-law and her kids, so the cousins will be able to all play together. They all still live in the midwest and we don't see them very often, so it will be nice for them to have quality time with the kids! I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous to leave the kids for as long as we are (7 days), and am going to miss them like crazy, but need to just relax and enjoy myself while I'm there. I'm thinking a pina colada will do the trick ;) I'm also hoping the kids do okay with us being gone, since this will be the longest time we've ever been away from them. We plan on Facetiming every day, so they still remember us when we come back :)
Despite my mommy worries, I'm really SO excited! We haven't taken a trip like this since our honeymoon, so it's long overdue!!! We are staying at this all-inclusive Sandals resort. It looks sooo amazing, and I'm really not sure we will even have to leave the resort. We may venture out for day, but plan to mostly just hang out at the resort. FYI, I will be doing a full recap of our vacay #ontheblog when we get back, so stay tuned!!
Okay...so today I'm talking all about mixing feminine with edgy. I'm mixing two completely different looks into one style. If you've followed along with me thus far, it's probably no surprise to you at this point that I like to mix sweet, feminine tops (think floral, ruffles, lace) with a little bit of edge (think distressed denim, raw edges, leather, studs). This is honestly one of my favorite looks to create! Anyone else with me? I'm going to link some feminine tops with distressed bottoms, so y'all can create this look as well :) So....here we go!
ASTR is the brand of the shirt I'm wearing, and they are typically known for their feminine details. I got it from Nordstrom back in the fall, and although exact style is sold out, these are all very similar! This floral top is sooo good and would look great with distressed denim. This floral cold-shoulder is really similar to mine, and the same brand as well. This lace top is a little pricy, but would look so good with ripped denim as well. This white lace tank is super adorable and the knot in the front is just perfection! Heart-eyes emoji.
This super affordable pink floral tank is cropped and on sale for $9. This floral bodysuit is only $12 and super cute. Want! This pink tank from H&M is playful with the scalloped edges, and also very budget-friendly. This white lace top would pair perfect with distressed denim cutoffs and this lace-up gingham crop top would be perfect with high-waisted distressed denim.
Now for bottoms! These distressed jeans from Express are similar to ones I'm wearing. This pair of high-waisted cutoffs for summer look so cuuuute and only $29! These Ralph Lauren cutoffs look so good. I'm really looving the wash. I actually tried these vintage, distressed jeans from American Eagle in store, and should have pulled the trigger!!!! Only $29, and the high-waist was sooo good, not to mention the vintage detail. I would have gotten size 4 for reference. Still may have to get them online....And here's another hi-rise distressed pair of jeans for only $29. American Eagle has some great jeans lately, I've noticed!
These are the exact wedges I'm wearing, but I also JUST ordered these Valentino dupes (which you saw on Instagram Stories if you follow me there). I got them in nude on clearance for only $31. The studs give them some extra "edge." They also come in black.
All products linked are pictured below for easy shopping! And more pics of MY look below...so keep on scrolling ;)
I hope I gave you guys some inspiration to go out there and create your own feminine/edgy look! What types looks do you guys like to mix together? Or do you go with one look overall?
