A Trendy 70's inspired look
Guys! We made it to Friday, soooo let's all take a moment and do a happy dance!!!!
Awesome. That was really good.
Sooo, does anyone else feel like 2017 has flown by so far? Holy moly, I can't believe it's already almost May!!! I personally love the month of May, because of Mother's Day and my son's birthday! Summer will be here before we know it.
I have a fun look for you guys today! It's totally trendy now, and it reminds me a tad of the 70's. Although I wasn't alive in the 70's, sometimes I wish I would have been! I've always admired the fashion that has come from past eras, especially the 60's and 70's. I'm a bit of an old soul :)
On a side note: If ya'll wanted to know a fun fact about me ---I LOVE THRIFT STORE SHOPPING. There's something about vintage items that I'm drawn to. Maybe it's that they have a story to tell, but I totally dig giving those pieces some TLC! Plus, you can usually find a good deal. So hey, I am THERE. None of the items I'm wearing here are actually vintage, but the look certainly has that "vintage" feel...
This embroidered sweater is very feminine with the ruffles and floral detail, and I love the red and blue color of the flowers that pop against the black. I am usually a sucker for anything floral, and embroidery is super trendy right now for spring.
I got it on the sale rack at Kohls. (Can y'all tell I looove the sale rack?) I paid around $15 for it. But had a 30% off coupon, so it was around $11. (Kohl's ALWAYS has great coupons to use, one of the main reasons why I love shopping there.) The sweater is Lauren Conrad's line. I have a few of her pieces in my closet that I just adore! I've linked some similar sweaters here, here, and here.
I paired the sweater with these ($64) exact Free People high rise wide-leg crop jeans. I did find the same jean with more sizes available here, but the price is significantly higher ($97) :( But...both sites have free shipping and free returns, which is always helpful.
YA'LL, I am obsessed with these jeans!!!!! The flares. The cut. The high-waist. The wash (sooo good!) Everything about them is muy bueno. I am 5'7" and they hit me just above the ankle. Flares are seriously on trend right now.
These round sunglasses (similar, similar) I got at Forever 21 for $3, and were more just for fun! For that price, why not!? I wasn't sure how I would like the rounded frames, or if I could pull it off, but the more I wear them, the more I like them!
My husband would probably tell me I look like I have bug eyes on, but what does he know?! (oh, hey Adam!) Don't you love that after you're married to someone for so long (well, 5 years), you can totally predict what they're going to say....lol!
I've been into trying new things lately and stepping out of my comfort zone a little. I think it's good for us when we do that. I try to embrace change, and it excites me to try new things. I will tell you, though, I never used to be like that. I was a kind of "stick with what you know" type of person. I still am to a certain degree, but in some areas of my life, I've noticed that I embrace change. Seems like the 30's did that to me??? Anyone else?
These heels I mentioned before, so I won't talk about them too much. The lace-up trend is here to stay, and I'm still swooning over the baby blue color. They also come in nude and black. Size up a half size!
So there is my trendy spring 2017 look with a 70's twist!
